French company Withings has unveiled its entry into the Indian market, introducing a range of smart health-tracking devices including hybrid smartwatches, connected smart scales, and blood pressure monitors.

Eric Carreel, President and founder of Withings, expressed the company’s commitment to democratizing access to transformative health technologies, stating, “What makes us unique is our capacity to capture real-life data, as seamless as it should be. There’s no other smartwatch on the market that can track clinical biomarkers like we do with a 30-day battery life. With the launch of our products and services in India, we are thrilled to provide those unique tools and insights to empower millions of individuals to lead healthier lives.”

Luxury Personified, the distributor for other global premium brands such as Dyson, Sonos, and GoPro, will be offering Withings devices through various retail channels including Croma, Reliance Digital, and 24 Seven.

In the smartwatch category, Withings introduces its ScanWatch 2 and ScanWatch Light, designed to continuously track heart rate and conduct medical-grade electrocardiograms for early detection of various medical conditions such as atrial fibrillation.

The company also offers Body Smart and Body Scan smart scales providing exclusive insights into parameters like pulse wave velocity and cardiovascular health.

Although Withings plans to introduce blood pressure monitors into the Indian market pending regulatory clearances, the company’s entry comes at a crucial time as cardiovascular health issues in India are on the rise. With Indians experiencing cardiovascular diseases earlier than Western populations and a high prevalence of obesity, Withings says it aims to address these health concerns through its health-tracking devices.

As Withings joins the Indian market, it will compete with established brands like Apple and Samsung, targeting the premium health segment. Additionally, the health wearable market has witnessed the emergence of smart rings, catering to both budget and premium segments, with Samsung expected to enter the premium market with the launch of Galaxy Ring around July this year.
