Venezuela has lifted all restrictions on international flights imposed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, said Vice Minister of Air Transport Freddy Borges on the Venezolana de Televisión channel.
Borges noted that the decision was made after World Health Organisation Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced the end of the COVID-19 state of emergency, which had been in effect since 2020.
"We turned over the pandemic page," said the official. Passengers were previously required to show a certificate of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative result of tests performed 48 hours before the flight, according to Borges.
"International air passenger traffic was severely impacted by the pandemic, and Venezuela has only been able to restore 40% of it so far," the official added.
