The "European Immunisation Week" initiative has been implemented every year since 2004, with the goal of raising public awareness about immunisation and protecting the population from infectious diseases through vaccinations. This year, it begins on April 23 and runs through April 29.
The European Immunisation Week 2023 initiative's motto is "Every Dose Counts", "Time Matters", with the goal of emphasising the role and importance of full and timely vaccinations for a person's health and well-being.
Vaccine use became widespread throughout the world, ushering in a major revolution in the fight against infectious diseases until they were eradicated. As a result, rates of vaccine-preventable diseases and deaths from those diseases have dropped dramatically around the world. Today, natural tuberculosis has been eradicated, and the abolition of poliomyelitis, measles, rubella, diphtheria, and viral hepatitis B is both possible and attainable.
In the Republic of Armenia, the following infectious diseases are prevented through planned vaccinations: diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, measles, rubella, epidemic parotitis (mumps), poliomyelitis, hepatitis "A" and "B", tuberculosis, hemophilus type B, rotavirus, meningococcal, pneumococcal, human papillomavirus infections, tularemia, seasonal influenza, rabies, which are included in the national schedule of honours. The role and importance of vaccines in the process of preventing coronavirus disease, including a booster dose, provides an opportunity to prevent severe forms of the disease and deaths.
