According to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Murashko announced during the IX St. Petersburg International Cancer Forum "White Nights 2023" that the cancer mortality rate in Russia has decreased by 5% compared to pre-pandemic levels. He also stated that the detection rate of oncological diseases has reached approximately 60%.

Murashko emphasized the importance of early disease identification, noting that the detection of diseases in the early stages has achieved the highest rate in previous years, reaching almost 60%. Early detection plays a critical role in facilitating more effective cancer treatment.

In April 2023, Murashko previously disclosed that the country had experienced a nearly 50% increase in the number of chemotherapy courses over the past three years. This significant surge has contributed to a notable decrease of 4.5% in cancer-related deaths within a span of just two years.
