Global health-technology leader Philips has expanded its collaboration with AI‐specialist Nicolab to bring advanced, AI-powered stroke diagnosis and treatment tools to India. The alliance combines Philips’ imaging technology expertise with Nicolab’s cloud-based “StrokeViewer” platform, aiming to bolster timely and accurate intervention in stroke cases.

The partnership responds to an urgent health challenge: India sees nearly 1.8 million new stroke incidents annually, making rapid diagnosis and treatment critical yet difficult, especially in smaller cities and rural zones where specialist access is scarce. The new integrated solution is designed to help clinicians act faster, even in under-resourced settings.

StrokeViewer offers AI-generated imaging analysis, real-time communication across stroke teams, and secure sharing of diagnostic results across mobile and desktop devices. When paired with Philips’ Azurion image-guided therapy platform, the system supports 3D procedural planning and optimised interventional routes before the patient reaches the operating suite.

“Every minute counts in stroke care,” said Gaurav Vyas, Business Leader, Image Guided Therapy, Philips India. “By teaming up with Nicolab, we’re deploying a connected, AI-enabled system to enable quicker, more confident treatment decisions and help more patients access high-quality care — even in underserved communities.”

Nicolab CEO Michael Macilquham emphasised the shared goal: “We want every stroke-patient — regardless of location — to have the best chance at recovery. Philips’ infrastructure and reach will help us bring AI-powered workflows to India’s clinical ecosystem, connect hospitals, empower clinicians, and minimise time from diagnosis to treatment.”

The collaboration advances Philips’ broader mission to work with hospitals, academic institutions and global technology partners — including World Stroke Organization — to improve stroke outcomes worldwide.
