The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has stepped up efforts to expand India’s global healthcare footprint by hosting a senior delegation from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The engagement focused on strengthening pharmaceutical and healthcare partnerships between the two countries in the run-up to iPHEX 2025, a premier international exhibition on pharmaceuticals and healthcare scheduled from September 4–6, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The Dutch delegation was led by Nico Schiettekatte, counsellor for health, welfare and sports at the Dutch Embassy in India, accompanied by Ravleen Pal, deputy head of the Economic Section and Sector Lead for Lifesciences & Health, Harsh Indrarun, trade and investment commissioner, and Rambabu, head of the Netherlands Business Support Office in Hyderabad.
Welcoming the officials, Pharmexcil Director General Raja Bhanu invited Dutch companies to participate actively in iPHEX 2025. He underlined the significance of building a robust platform for bilateral cooperation, enabling Indian and Dutch businesses to work together on innovation, trade, and healthcare access.
A central theme of the discussions was facilitating Dutch participation in B2B interactions at the exhibition. Pharmexcil urged the inclusion of stakeholders from Dutch hospitals, pharmaceutical distributors, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to help strengthen commercial synergies.
Responding to this, Schiettekatte confirmed that invitations had already been extended to relevant Dutch partners, assuring strong representation from the Netherlands at the exhibition. Talks also explored the possibility of establishing a dedicated Dutch Pavilion at iPHEX 2025 to highlight the country’s expertise and technological advancements in healthcare and pharmaceuticals.
Pharmexcil Director Murali further emphasized the importance of addressing supply chain challenges, particularly shortages of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and finished dosage formulations (FDFs). He called for greater data sharing and industry matchmaking with Dutch stakeholders to identify collaboration opportunities and bridge existing gaps.
The meeting underscored the growing alignment between India and the Netherlands in the life sciences sector, with a shared focus on public health priorities, affordable medicines, and sustainable innovation. By facilitating this dialogue, Pharmexcil aims to enhance the scope of international partnerships at iPHEX 2025 and reinforce India’s role as a global pharmaceutical hub.
Pharmexcil expressed confidence that the Netherlands’ active involvement will enrich the diversity and global reach of the exhibition, creating new avenues for trade, investment, and collaborative growth in the healthcare domain.
