On May 18-21, Yerevan was designated as a leading medical and thought centre. At the Yolyan Haematology Centre, more than 200 world-renowned paediatric oncologists and heads of medical and educational institutions presented reports and lectures on the most recent developments in the field. Hundreds of eminent doctors and scientists became acquainted with Armenia's medicine science and scientific potential through meetings with our specialists.
"Because of Armenian oncologists' important role and professional potential in the international community of paediatric oncology, one of the most prestigious events in the field is being held in Armenia this year," said Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan at the opening of the 15th Asian Conference of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP Asia 2023 XV Congress), which welcomed 200 oncologists from around the world.
New opportunities for experience exchange and cooperation will be created as a result of the various four-day events. "No child should die from cancer," says the International Society of Paediatric Oncology. "Heal many, take care of all."
In Armenia, no child with cancer goes untreated, and 75% of them recover completely. This, according to the minister, is a good indicator, but there is always room for improvement. Everything is being done in our country to ensure that cancer is not a death sentence, not only for children but also for adults.
