The Yerevan Municipality, in collaboration with the International Humanitarian Organisation "Doctors Without Borders," has launched the programme "Access to quality services through a simplified model of care for Hepatitis C patients." Separate treatment rooms were opened in the "Arshakunyats Polyclinic" after it was implemented. Under the project, the organisation performed repair work, donated laboratory-instrumental equipment, medicines, vaccines, medical supplies and consumables, and foreign specialists trained the medical staff.
Representatives from the municipality, international organisations, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) attended the event.
The program's goal is to provide high-quality services such as hepatitis C screening, diagnosis, treatment, control, and prevention.
The acting head of the Yerevan Municipality's health care department, Davit Karapetyan, stated that it is planned to conduct free screening and laboratory instrumental research on 10,000 medical patients by the end of the year. If the disease is discovered, 400 patients will be treated for free.
Since the program's inception in June, 200 medical patients have been examined, and four cases have been identified.
