Aibek Bekbolotov, Deputy Director of the Centre for Viral Hepatitis and HIV Control, said that mass screening for viral hepatitis among Kyrgyz people is planned for autumn.
He also stated that all citizens over the age of 18 will be tested.
"We have 33 laboratories that perform HIV testing." They now all have viral hepatitis testing equipment. "An algorithm for detecting hepatitis was developed," he emphasised.
It was proposed in 2022 that the National AIDS Centre take over the function of detecting and treating viral hepatitis. Several actions, including the development of regulations, were taken to that end, he said.
By the end of 2023, the number of people infected with hepatitis B and C will be known.
