Kyrgyzstan launches medication traceability system
News

According to the Ministry of Health's press centre, Kyrgyzstan has launched a medication traceability system. Gulnara Baatyrova, the minister's head, visited the Department of Medicines and Medical Products to learn about the progress of digitalization and the implementation of the system. Gulnara further directed that all pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, government healthcare organisations, and other system participants be connected.

The traceability system will help in combating counterfeit medical products, ensuring the safety of medicines. The system will further be able to track drugs from the time they enter the country until they reach the end user in pharmacies; information on the availability of specific medicines will also be available in hospitals. Citizens will be able to use a mobile application to check the legality of a purchased medicine and obtain all relevant information.

The system's data on medicine consumption will be used to develop a national healthcare strategy.
