Malaysia-based IHH Healthcare, one of Asia’s largest private hospital networks, has announced plans to significantly expand its presence in India by adding 2,000 new hospital beds by 2028. The announcement comes alongside the unveiling of a refreshed global brand identity aimed at unifying the group’s operations across markets.

At present, IHH operates in India through its subsidiaries Fortis Healthcare and Gleneagles Healthcare, running 35 hospitals with a combined capacity of over 5,000 beds across 11 states. The planned expansion underscores the company’s strategy to strengthen both operational scale and financial resilience while addressing India’s growing demand for quality healthcare services.

Globally, IHH manages 140 healthcare facilities, including more than 80 hospitals across 10 countries, cementing its position as a key international player in the sector. According to Group CEO Dr. Prem Kumar Nair, the rebranding marks a renewed commitment to innovation, collaboration, and patient-centered care. He noted that the company’s growth plans are designed to deliver seamless, world-class healthcare experiences while deepening IHH’s footprint in critical markets such as India.

Beyond India, IHH is also pursuing new opportunities worldwide. Recent initiatives include acquisitions in Türkiye and the establishment of ambulatory care facilities in Shanghai and Hong Kong. These ventures are aimed at offering non-acute, community-based services that complement its hospital network, thereby enhancing accessibility and patient choice.

With its ambitious expansion plans, IHH Healthcare is positioning itself to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of India’s private healthcare landscape while reinforcing its reputation as a global leader in integrated medical services.
