According to Bloomberg, the British pharmaceutical company Glaxo has been concealing the risks of its stomach ulcer and heartburn drug Zantac for more than 40 years.
This was due to the drug's active ingredient ranitidine, which when taken as medicine produces the carcinogen N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), determined the agency. Since 1978, the manufacturer has been aware of this side effect did not recall the drug from pharmacy shelves.
