FUJIFILM India has unveiled its new clinical chemistry analyzer, the FW500 Clinical Chemistry Analyzer, marking its first foray into wet-chemistry systems for mid-sized laboratories. The move represents a significant expansion beyond its well-established dry-chemistry diagnostics business and underlines its ambition to strengthen its presence in India’s in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) market.
The FW500 is designed to support up to 200 tests per hour, with a capacity of 95 sample positions and 72 reagent slots, tailored specifically for laboratories seeking robust throughput in a compact footprint. It features continuous sample loading, reagent temperature control and a streamlined layout for enhancing workflows in clinical settings.
In addition to performance-enhancing features, the instrument emphasises sustainability: it consumes approximately 1.5 litres of water per hour and uses reusable cuvettes to minimise waste. The system is also equipped with advanced software enabling real-time system monitoring and remote access, enabling tighter control over lab operations and data management.
With this launch, FUJIFILM India now offers a full biochemistry portfolio encompassing both dry and wet chemistry platforms. This strategic move is aligned with the growing demand in India’s diagnostics sector where expansion of testing infrastructure, rising preventive care adoption and automation in smaller and tier-II/III labs are driving growth.
By introducing the FW500, FUJIFILM India aims to enable laboratories to enhance accuracy and operational efficiency while broadening access to high-quality diagnostic tools across the country particularly in less-urban markets.
