Fortis Healthcare Limited has announced a significant expansion of its presence in Bengaluru with the acquisition of People Tree Hospital in Yeshwanthpur for 430 crore. The deal, expected to be completed by January 2026, underscores Fortis’s strategic push into key urban healthcare markets.

The 125-bed multi-specialty facility, operated by TMI Healthcare Private Limited, will be acquired in full by Fortis’s wholly owned subsidiary, International Hospital Limited. In addition to the existing hospital infrastructure and land, Fortis will also take over an adjacent 0.8-acre parcel, creating scope for future growth.

Fortis has revealed plans to invest a further 410 crore over the next three years to transform the hospital into a larger, more advanced healthcare centre. The expansion is expected to increase capacity to more than 300 beds and bring in upgraded medical equipment and new clinical services, including a radiation oncology department.

People Tree Hospital is NABH-accredited and offers a range of specialty services, such as cardiac sciences, orthopaedics, neurosciences, renal sciences and gastroenterology. Fortis believes there is considerable opportunity to improve utilisation and performance as part of its broader network.

Fortis already operates several facilities in Bengaluru and this acquisition will reinforce its cluster-focused growth strategy in South India. The company aims to expand its bed count in the city from roughly 900 at present to over 1,500 within the next three years. Across India, Fortis runs 33 healthcare facilities with more than 5,800 beds and over 400 diagnostics labs.

Officials from both Fortis and People Tree Hospitals say the partnership is poised to accelerate clinical excellence while meeting the region’s rising demand for quality care.
