Chinese enterprises aim to establish a presence in one of the world's key pharmaceutical hubs. A delegation of 10 industry leaders journeyed to Basel for Swiss Biotech Day, a prominent event in the field. Held annually in the Swiss city, renowned for hosting pharmaceutical giants like Roche and Novartis, the conference attracts global attention. Notably, several Chinese firms have established subsidiaries in the region.

Among these, AcroBiosystems, a relatively young company at 14 years old, has made significant strides beyond China's borders. With operations in the United States, Switzerland, UK, and Germany, it recently inaugurated its inaugural European logistics center and warehouse in Basel.

The Chinese contingent at Swiss Biotech Day aims to emulate the accomplishments of enterprises like AcroBiosystems. Their activities included a roundtable discussion and networking sessions with industry executives, pivotal for expansion endeavors, as analysts highlight.

Gregory Rall, deputy head of innovation at Sachs Associates, emphasizes the importance of such gatherings in conveying the narrative of these companies' journeys and establishing connections with potential partners and investors.

For Swiss pharmaceutical companies, China represents a lucrative market, ranking second globally after the USA, and serves as a gateway to the wider Asian market. However, in forging partnerships, personal interaction remains paramount, asserts Minyue Dong, director of the China Economics and Finance Center (CEFC). Events like Swiss Biotech Day play a crucial role in nurturing relationships, facilitating trust, and fostering future collaborations between China and Switzerland.
