India’s BPL Medical Technologies has acquired South Korea-based Yozma BMtech Co., Ltd., a company specialising in bone mineral density (BMD) diagnostic solutions, in a move aimed at expanding its preventive diagnostics and imaging portfolio.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen BPL’s capabilities in bone health assessment and early disease detection, while reinforcing its presence in the medical imaging and diagnostics segment.

Following the acquisition, BPL has introduced BMtech’s advanced bone mineral density measuring systems in India and Dubai to support early screening and monitoring of osteoporosis and other bone-related conditions.

Expanding Preventive Diagnostics and Imaging Capabilities

The newly introduced systems are designed to deliver high-speed scanning and high-resolution imaging while maintaining low radiation exposure to enhance patient safety.

These machines incorporate fan-beam technology with multi-channel detectors that enable accurate measurement of bone density across multiple anatomical sites. Some models also support whole-body bone densitometry and body composition analysis, allowing broader preventive health assessments.

In addition, the systems are designed with a compact footprint so they can be installed in space-constrained hospitals and diagnostic centres, helping expand access to specialised bone health screening services.

Focus on Women’s Health and Osteoporosis Screening

The acquisition is expected to strengthen BPL Medical Technologies’ presence in the women’s health segment, where bone density assessment plays a crucial role in identifying and managing post-menopausal osteoporosis risks.

According to the company, the launch responds to the growing demand for preventive diagnostics driven by ageing populations, increasing prevalence of osteoporosis and lifestyle-related risk factors.

Highlighting the significance of the deal, Shravan Subramanyam, Managing Director of BPL Medical Technologies, said, “This acquisition represents a significant step in strengthening our preventive healthcare and diagnostics portfolio.”

He added, “Bone health, particularly among women and ageing populations, requires greater focus on early detection and monitoring.”

Subramanyam further noted that “by bringing advanced bone mineral density technology to key markets, we aim to improve access to reliable screening solutions and support better clinical outcomes.”

Strengthening Global Expansion Strategy

BPL Medical Technologies said the acquisition will help accelerate innovation in imaging and diagnostics by combining BMtech’s specialised technology with BPL’s manufacturing, distribution and clinical expertise.

The integration is also expected to strengthen the company’s footprint in international markets while expanding access to early detection tools for chronic and degenerative conditions.

With rising global attention on preventive healthcare and early disease detection, the acquisition positions BPL Medical Technologies to play a larger role in bone health diagnostics and imaging solutions across emerging and international markets.
