AstraZeneca India Private Limited (AZIPL) has announced a Rs 250 crore ($30 million) investment to expand its Global Innovation and Technology Centre (GITC) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This expansion will create approximately 1,300 roles aimed at fostering innovation, improving efficiency, and streamlining operations globally.
The expanded facility was inaugurated by Dr. TRB Rajaa, Minister of Industries, Tamil Nadu, Christina Scott CMG, British Deputy High Commissioner to India, Sylvia Varela, AstraZeneca Vice President for Asia Area, and AstraZeneca’s leadership team in India.
This investment marks a significant milestone in AstraZeneca’s 45-year journey in India. By 2025, the expanded GITC will introduce highly skilled roles, enhancing the company's ability to utilize technologies such as enterprise platforms, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and supply chain analytics to impact healthcare outcomes.
