On International Children's Day, the Children's Health Foundation of Armenia and the R. O. Yolyan Haematology Centre of the Ministry of Health signed a memorandum of cooperation under which the "Karina Hereditary Cancer Predisposition Clinic" will be established in the haematology centre.
"The right to maintain health is a fundamental right of children, and we are obligated to ensure their right to grow up healthy, as well as, if necessary, receive equal treatment," congratulated Anahit Avanesyan, Minister of Health, on behalf of all the children at the R. O. Yolyan Haematology Centre.
Children with a hereditary predisposition to cancer will be examined in this clinic in order to prevent childhood cancer. In this way, the disease can be prevented or detected at an early stage.
Already treated children will be examined in the clinic to prevent disease recurrence or manifestations.
The Children's Health Fund of Armenia's director, Armen Martirosyan, emphasised the importance of early detection of cancer in our country, saying, "We are glad that today we have the opportunity to finance the creation of such an important centre, which will contribute to the early detection and prevention of cancer among children, effective treatment, as a result, reducing the prevalence and mortality of cancer in Armenia and Artsakh."
The implementation of this idea was also supported by Karina Petrosyan's parents, who donated all of the money they raised for bone marrow transplantation to the establishment of the centre for timely diagnosis and the possibility of saving lives.
The Minister of Health visited the haematology centre and the construction site of the new Blood Bank building to learn about the progress of the work.
