In a meeting with Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, The Council of Europe delegation expressed its condolences to the families of the servicemen who died as a result of Azerbaijan's aggression on Wednesday, and wished the injured a speedy recovery. The minister emphasized the efforts of international partners to prevent similar attacks.

A discussion on the cooperation between Armenia and the Council of Europe on the protection of human rights and ethical principles in biomedicine within the framework of the "Protection of Human Rights in Biomedicine II" programme took place.

The work done to provide quality health services to people deprived of their liberty in the penal system was also highlighted. The second phase will also focus on human rights protection in the field of mental health care.The minister stated that infrastructure reconstruction and improvement of conditions are underway, and that medical and human rights protection issues are also being addressed.

"Medical workers’ ethical rules were not only brought into the legislative field, but also became part of daily work through training. This was crucial to us. We are delighted that the programme will be continued.It is critical for us to include comprehensive health insurance in the licensing process of doctors, so that they meet not only medical but also ethical standards," said Anahit Avanesyan.

The first collaboration with CE was a success.The procedure for forming the Ethics Commission was adopted, as were the rules of professional ethics for medical workers, and national legislation was brought in line with European standards of human rights and ethical principles.
