Eight disabled children from the rural municipality of Barpi in the district of Suzak in the Jalal-Abad region are currently receiving free treatment at a hospital in Bishkek.
This is the first time such an initiative has been undertaken in the Barpi rural municipality, according to Nurjamal Shabdanova, the head of the Ene Meerimi public association. Children were previously sent to rehabilitation centres and hospitals in the Jalal-Abad region.
"We applied for funding from international associations this year." As a result, we were given assistance, and eight children were sent to the Centre for Mother and Child Protection in Bishkek for treatment. Children with cerebral palsy and eye diseases are among them," she explained.
The Ene Meerimi public association for disabled children was founded three years ago. It focuses on children under the age of three who live in eight settlements.
The public association currently has 80 families as members.
