Chhattisgarh's Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary has unveiled significant healthcare initiatives, including the construction of new infrastructure worth Rs 700 crore for the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) in Bilaspur. Additionally, a Rs 766 crore allocation has been earmarked for constructing a 1200-bed facility at the Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in the state capital, Raipur. 

During the budget presentation in the assembly on Friday, the Finance Minister announced plans for a Super Specialty Hospital in Ambikapur, associated with Ambikapur Medical College, to offer services comparable to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), with a funding of Rs 50 crore.

To ensure hospitals meet National Quality Assurance Standards, Rs 12 crore has been allocated for Chhattisgarh Faid Siddh Certification. Moreover, Rs 20 crore has been designated to upgrade district hospitals to model district hospitals in Gariyaband, Kawardha, Raigarh, Mungeli, Baikunthpur, Jashpur, and Narayanpur.

Other initiatives include establishing a trauma center at Rajnandgaon Medical College, and building staff quarters for nursing colleges in Bastar, with Rs 1 crore fund. Rs 2.7 crore has been allocated for constructing student hostels at DKSS Super Specialty Hospital in Raipur and a Physiotherapy College.

Moreover, 15 new primary health centers will be established, and Rs 3.5 crore has been allocated for urban health centers to offer physiotherapy, mental health, under the Chief Minister's Urban Health Program.

To extend free healthcare to BPL families, the issuance of Ayushman cards has commenced, with a provision of Rs 1,526 crore under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Health Scheme. Additionally, Rs 1,821 crore has been allocated for implementing various healthcare programs under the National Health Mission scheme.
